Hello,
I’m wondering which outdoor light I need... I would like to have good lighting all around the house... So that when I come home and it’s dark, I don’t have to be afraid... What wattage/lumen output should I install to get bright enough light? Not a weak light, but also not a powerful floodlight...
Preferably with a motion sensor... I’ve heard there are motion sensors that can distinguish between a person and an animal...
Thank you very much for the help...
We live rather on the edge of town... so somewhat remote...

You will need several lamps for around the house.
The required brightness depends on the mounting height and how much area and distance the light should cover.
For example, have a look at Steinel lamps.

LED lights in the roof overhang. We have five at the front but could have installed them all around. They turn on at dusk, controlled by a general electric dusk sensor relay in the electrical installation, and turn off around midnight unless I override it, then they turn off at daylight. The power consumption is very low, but they are bright. K..

I would rather solve this with a motion sensor. That way, the lights won’t stay on longer than necessary. Just because LEDs are more energy-efficient doesn’t mean they should be left on longer than needed.

Regardless of the type of outdoor lighting, I would only use LEDs from now on.

To illuminate a path at night, fixtures are usually installed at around 2 meters (6.5 feet) height.

In your case with Nordlys, it’s more of a design element with an additional function. The effort required for retrofitting would also be quite high.

I would recommend an LED spotlight (14 watts), with a dusk sensor and motion detector.

How many watts or lumens do the lamps have and where did you get them?

Thank you very much. That sounds good. What spacing should the lamps have? For a house approximately 15 x 17 meters (50 x 56 feet).
