ᐅ Incorrect roof tiles: glossy instead of matte

Hello everyone,

To my surprise, I noticed today that the roofer has already installed or laid out glossy black glazed tiles instead of the agreed matte black glazed tiles.

We are meeting with the roofer tomorrow – he has already admitted it was a delivery error. Now, I’m unsure how to proceed...

We could certainly request a replacement, but I don’t want to put the company at risk of bankruptcy – although it might not be that serious.

The zoning plan allows for both types – the house opposite also has glossy glazed tiles.

However, I have read that neighbors might be able to file complaints. I want to avoid leaving the tiles as they are and then having someone complain in three years because of glare.

What are your thoughts on this?

Hello,

I would decide whether I like it as it is and if the bricks match the house, then leave it that way. If not, replace them.

Assuming the glazed bricks are expensive and the client chooses the glazed ones, why should there be a discount?

They are not glazed but coated with a glossy engobe. The price is only slightly higher.
He has now offered us a discount of €1000 - but my wife is not very convinced, and I think he would not be very happy if we declined.
We will go and take another look soon; he is going to lay out a corner for us.

If you (or even just one of you) are not satisfied with it, the discount won't help you. You might be happy for a few weeks because you saved money, but that's about it.
There is nothing worse than coming home every day and thinking, this looks terrible. Why did we agree to this?

Hello BeHaElJa,

I'm sorry to say this, but sometimes a discussion is pointless, or a forum is not the right place.

No one here knows what the area in front of your house looks like, nor are they familiar with your personal taste.

Just take a look at the roof—if you like what’s there, leave it as is and sort out any further details directly with the roofer. If not, have them replace it and that’s that.

Sometimes it’s easier to make decisions or resolve issues directly rather than asking a forum or discussing every little thing (like stair landings, bathroom layout, etc.).

What’s got your goat? No one is forcing you to read or write this...

None at all, and I knew you would misunderstand.

My point is that there are certain things that won’t help you move forward in your decision.

But let’s leave it at that, I already apologized right away in my first post.
