Hello, until now I have only been a reader, but I have a small question.

To keep it brief: "Do I even need windows that can be opened if I have a mechanical ventilation system (WRL)?"
I am seriously considering ordering all windows without an opening option.

Apart from the patio door and conservatory door, of course.

This would significantly reduce the cost of the windows, but somehow I feel uneasy about it.
So the question is: Is it essential to have windows that can be opened?

The only scenario I can think of is "cleaning," which might be more complicated then. However, so far we have always outsourced window cleaning (others can do it better and faster) and plan to continue doing so. Then just with a ladder.

Is this nonsense or really something to consider?

Thank you

From painful experience, there must be a second escape route on every floor, with a clear opening of 0.9 x 1.2 m (35 x 47 inches).
Therefore, at least one window or door per floor is mandatory (accessible to the fire department, for example, on the street side).

What are the savings compared to openable windows, and to what extent does it limit quality of life?
Well, in summer I do want to be able to open the windows; the ventilation system can be turned off for a few days.

Do you have children or dogs? They often pass gas, and it’s very helpful to get fresh air in quickly. The ventilation system doesn’t remove it that fast.

I do have a few more arguments... but with a user who doesn’t respond, there’s no follow-up.

I will receive a new offer next week, including the price difference for fixed windows. But in conversation with our window supplier, it sounded like the range is quite large!
I’m really curious.

Ha! No dogs in the house. Hopefully children in due course.
But an interesting point.

We’ve asked around among acquaintances who have a mechanical ventilation system with heat recovery (MVHR). Everyone had to think hard, and only one said that the bedroom windows are often opened in the morning despite having MVHR. Since our bedroom faces the street, we would consider it normal to open those windows. And to tolerate the odors, we would also open the children’s bedroom windows. That means we would have 4 windows that can be opened.

Sorry, but especially on weekends, we home builders are only at the construction site.
I hope you still remember the follow-up ?

Regards and have a nice Sunday
