Hello everyone,

we would like to have 2-3 windows spanning a corner of the house.
However, the architect said that either an internal support beam would be needed, or a section of masonry about 36cm (14 inches) thick on the outside corner would have to be kept, and the windows would just be placed closer together.
The first option definitely looks more stylish from the outside, but how does it look from the inside? Does anyone have pictures of such an internal support beam?

Best regards,
Tobias

There are also other options. The ones suggested by your architect are certainly the more cost-effective concerning structural engineering.

I don’t want to promote anyone….

I still had to remove the link; equal rules for everyone.

You don’t necessarily need a support beam; it’s just that these corner windows are not exactly cheap, and external shading in the form of an exterior blind is recommended. Knowing this, your architect, in my opinion, suggested the solution mentioned above.

You can certainly opt for the support beam; it can be clad in plastic both inside and outside so that it visually appears as a single window element. The advantage is that the beam provides enough space for installing two separate roller shutters, making the overall solution more cost-effective.
