We need to decide whether to install a standard Velux roof window that can be rotated, or a top-hung pivot window. The latter is significantly more expensive, and we need two of them.

In terms of ventilation or the view, it is definitely the better option.

But aside from the cost: maybe I’m thinking about this the wrong way, but don’t top-hung pivot windows potentially encourage young children to climb on the roof?

Or how can these types of roof windows be secured?

We have tilt-and-turn windows. You can easily climb out when they are tilted. That is certainly true. Karsten

Has it ended up being the Kampa house?

So, did you decide on the Kampa house after all?

Yes, but that has been decided for months already...

To get back to your question: how big is the price difference?
I would tend to go for the tilt-and-turn windows.

I would say that tilt-and-turn windows are worthwhile if the view invites you to enjoy it. If you are about 1.80 meters (5 feet 11 inches) tall or taller, you can still stand fully in front of the window and look outside, as if you were standing on a balcony or a lookout hill. Traditional double casement windows are more for basic ventilation and letting light in.
