Hausbautraum201 Jan 2021 15:54Hello,
maybe someone can give me a rough idea.
We currently don’t plan to use the attic as living space, so there is only one window on the gable side and no roof windows (skylights).
However, it would be possible to gain about 35sqm (375 sq ft) of living space if we needed it later on.
Without roof windows, the back area is definitely too dark at the moment.
We are now considering whether it makes sense to install a roof window now (insulation, cladding, etc. are not finished yet, but the roof is already covered)
Or if it wouldn’t be much more expensive to simply add it later in 10 years if we definitely need it then?
Thanks in advance for your opinion 🙂

allstar831 Jan 2021 21:00I’m also interested in this. Roughly estimated, a larger roof window about 140cm (55 inches) wide at KfW standard costs around 1,800 to 2,000.

Hausbautraum201 Jan 2021 22:11During new construction or for retrofitting?
I was expecting to pay around 2000€ for retrofitting, but I’ve often been way off with my estimates...

Hausbautraum202 Jan 2021 07:44Thanks for the information! In our case, an additional cost of €500-1000 for something we might need in 10 years (maybe?) is probably manageable. However, considering that roof windows are often said to be the easiest to retrofit, the percentage increase in price is still quite significant.
