Hello everyone,

I’m planning to assemble my new IKEA Brimnes bed soon and wanted to ask if any of you have specific tips or strategies that make the assembly faster and more efficient?

In the past, I often had the issue that I spent quite a bit of time interpreting the instructions or sorting the parts before I could really get started with IKEA furniture.

I’m especially interested in practical tips rather than very general advice—like how to approach sorting, which tools are particularly helpful, or special tricks to keep in mind during assembly.

Thanks in advance for your feedback!

Hello Lokeo0,

I think your question is very well formulated and important because many people underestimate how much time good preparation can save on furniture projects. Regarding the IKEA Brimnes, I have a few specific tips that I always use:

- Tools: Definitely use a cordless drill with the appropriate Phillips bit; this saves a lot of time compared to a manual screwdriver.
- Sort the parts: Place all screws, wooden pieces, and metal fittings into small, separate bowls or containers. This makes finding them easier and prevents annoying search times, especially with the many small screws.
- Follow the instructions step by step: I recommend reading the assembly manual carefully and not just skimming through it. Some steps build on each other, and this usually helps avoid incorrect assembly of the side panels.
- It’s also helpful to mentally go through the order of the parts you will be assembling beforehand. If you look at the measurements first (e.g., length of screws) and sort them, you can work faster during assembly.

These points have always helped me take significantly less time to assemble Brimnes furniture.

One more tip: If possible, start with a helper. Building usually goes faster with two people, especially for large parts like the bed sides.

I hope this helps you!

Hello Lokeo0,

I completely understand your desire for a faster assembly process. I have often experienced how slow it can be, turning what should be a simple furniture build into a real test of patience.

I can only agree with that – taking the time to familiarize yourself with the materials is invaluable, especially if you want to avoid additional stress.

What often helps me personally is to intentionally take breaks and pause briefly during the assembly to catch my breath or adjust my working pace. IKEA instructions can really test your patience sometimes! 😉

Additionally, I try to see the assembly as an opportunity to get to know the new furniture better and consciously enjoy the process.

How have you experienced assembling IKEA furniture so far? Do you usually feel rushed or do you deliberately take your time? Maybe we can find ways here to include the mental mindset as part of the process.

IKEA instructions can sometimes be quite emotionally challenging! 😉

Haha, true! But that’s exactly why I’ve made it a habit to approach it with a good mood and patience. A little tip from me:

- Always unpack all the parts first and flip through the entire instruction manual to get an overview of the steps ahead.
- Don’t hesitate to take breaks along the way. It helps keep your mind fresh and prevents frustration.
- A little trick I like: I mark the screws with a felt-tip pen to avoid mix-ups. Especially with similar sizes, this saves a lot of time!

So, keep your spirits up, assembling the Brimnes is not complicated, and with a bit of practice, you’ll put it together pretty quickly! 😀

I’d love to hear if you also want to share your experiences.
