Hello everyone,

I am currently looking into spare parts for the IKEA Brimnes furniture series. Since Brimnes is quite common, I am especially interested in experience-based insights: Which spare parts do you find the hardest to obtain? I am particularly thinking of components like hinges, drawer slides, or side panels. I would also like to know if there are differences depending on whether you order online or directly at an IKEA store.

Perhaps someone has already tried to replace a specific part and encountered insurmountable problems.

I would appreciate concrete examples, tips on sourcing, or recommendations on the best alternatives for dealing with difficult-to-find spare parts. Thanks in advance for your help!

That immediately makes me think of those small plastic clips that often come with drawers.

That’s interesting, but I wonder how often these clips are actually available as spare parts from IKEA. To my knowledge, IKEA rarely officially includes these kinds of small components in their spare parts program.

Availability: Hinges and small fasteners are part of the standard spare parts range.

This statement partly contradicts my experience. I once had a specific type of hinge that was no longer available, despite directly inquiring with IKEA.

In my opinion, availability strongly depends on the production year of the particular item, as IKEA does not maintain all generations continuously. It would be helpful to ask the original poster about the age of the furniture. Only then can the availability of spare parts today be accurately assessed.

Furthermore, it’s worth considering whether alternative sources exist or whether insisting on original parts even makes sense.
