ᐅ Which Sensors for What? Inspiration

Hello everyone,

we need to start giving the electrician instructions on what to install where and how to configure it.
I could use some guidance on what makes sense where and would like to ask you KNX users how you use it. Which sensors can be used in a basic way (without advanced components, as our electrician can’t handle that, and I will have to do that myself later) for the classic applications?

I am mainly interested in the following:

1. Presence detectors (PD)
2. Motion sensors (MS)
3. Switched sockets/outlets

We also have the X1. Overall, I am very satisfied. The setup was great, and I also needed the IP gateway.
By now, I would only wish for a bit more flexibility in the visualization (i.e., the app) – things like customized colors or graphic weather information. But it’s not essential.

Inspired by the other thread, I would like to ask again if anyone is familiar with the small object server from MDT?
It supports 4 objects per server and up to 120 functions, if I remember correctly.
Does anyone know it and can share some insights?
The X1 looks nice but costs about twice as much right away.

Counter question:
I’m not familiar with this server, but does it also function as an IP interface like the X1?
If not, the price of the X1 can be quite justified.

IP interface supports up to four simultaneous connections. IOS app.
Or am I misunderstanding the question?

Edit: what it doesn’t have compared to the X1 is the interface for “programming.” I believe that is done via the ETS.

I checked, it also serves as an IP interface. So, you don’t need a separate interface for the ETS.

I’m bringing this topic up again because I’ve been thinking about a question lately.
Subject: reed switches or shading systems.
How have you dealt with the situation where automatic shading could lock you out of the house if the patio door/sliding door is closed?
I’ve considered several options but am not sure which is the most practical.

1. A handle sensor. However, I haven’t found a reliable solution for this yet.
2. A “patio scene” that somehow helps in this situation.
3. Something like a motion detector on the terrace.

How have you solved this?
