Hello, we are about to order a kitchen but cannot decide which downdraft extractor to choose.
The options are:
Bora Basic
Miele ....
Both cost around 3000 euros (approximately 3200 USD).
The Miele looks nicer, but for me it is more important that it works well and reliably.
Are there any long-term experiences?
Any recommendations with reasons?
I would really appreciate it.

Anyone have experience with downdraft ventilation instead of built-in cooktop extractors? We just can’t get used to having something in the cooktop =/
Our kitchen planner advised us against all options integrated in or on the cooktop – but we also didn’t want anything right in front of us. So we chose the Novy Cloud, a ceiling-mounted extractor hood. From September, I’ll be able to report more precisely on how good this choice was.
From your experience, none of the systems are strong enough to permanently prevent grease buildup on the ceiling. With taller pots, the effectiveness is reduced. The exhaust air has to go somewhere, so depending on the system, you will have drafts around your feet or concentrated in one spot. Depending on the system, the drawer space is reduced. The ceiling extractor typically has more power due to its design.
I think that’s it. As mentioned, I can report on how well the Novy works in about 2 months. Until then, it’s all just theory...

I’m not very satisfied with my Miele, but if it can do one thing well, it’s absorb grease… what it doesn’t do well is prevent odors… and for me personally, there’s just not enough cooktop space left… Can you give some examples where there isn’t enough space left? We are still leaning towards Bora, and it fits two large frying pans and two small pots. Apart from maybe a big roast at Christmas, that’s usually enough.
Still, somehow I have some reservations about it…
