Hello everyone,
I am currently planning a larger furniture project where I want to use IKEA Platsa. I noticed that hinges play a crucial role in the durability and smooth operation of the furniture. My question to the community is: What specific experiences do you have regarding the durability of IKEA Platsa hinges? Have the hinges held up well over several years, or did you encounter early issues such as readjustments, loosening, or even breakage? If so, how did you deal with these problems? I am especially interested in the long-term quality compared to other IKEA hinges or similar systems.
Thanks in advance for your feedback!

It’s fun how the doors close softly thanks to the dampening mechanism. That’s true, I also noticed that positively. This soft closing immediately gives a piece of furniture a more premium feel.

Hinges tend to become loose after a few years. Just tighten the screws.Exactly, I think these small maintenance tasks are normal. However, you shouldn’t really expect hinges to remain maintenance-free forever.
Since you seem knowledgeable about hinges: Do you know if there is a difference between the older and newer generations of PLATSA hinges? I’ve heard that IKEA has made some minor revisions to the hinges over time.
