ᐅ What do you think of the new design of the house building forum?

I can’t say anything about that. First, we need to wait and see what stops working as usual.

Unfortunately, since the last time you read a thread, you get a notification bell for every new post made:

I will take care of summarizing some posts as long as they haven’t been "seen."
Then, for example, it would say: 3 New Posts in ..... etc.
Please be patient.

Exactly … just like in the example from post 174 😉

We followed exactly this approach. We first planned the house with Weißert. Afterwards, we started the project with Graef. What exactly would you like to know? Maybe we should exchange information via private message or something similar.

@webmaster: I strongly support introducing the option for private messages even for members with significantly fewer posts,
alternatively allowing everyone to display an email address in their profile,
and/or at least enabling one-way messaging from established members to new members via private message.

My time spent answering private messages amounts to a single-digit number of work hours annually,
so I have no concerns about excessive workload if newcomers were allowed to contact me.

Where the absence of this feature is felt most acutely—and where it would benefit the forum most—is in the "Experiences with Construction Companies" section.
Especially potential or even affected clients of developers would gain considerable value from this,
but on the other hand, they are among those who are hopelessly far from meeting the post count requirement to gain private message privileges.

I was for many years the most active admin/moderator of a high-ranking special interest forum and had to handle only a very small number of netiquette complaints related to private messages (including spam). No hate speech, no illegal content, and even Viagra/Nigeria/Bitcoin/affiliate spam was limited to a level that two measures alone could reduce to zero (minimum membership age of two weeks and alerts to mods when multiple members share the same IP address). Even before that, the ratio of thread spam to private message spam was roughly 20:1.

Regarding forum ranking, I estimate the impact of private messaging between regular members to be roughly as significant as linking to useful external sources.

@Webmaster … regarding private messages, I can only agree with @11ant. I have now been a supervising moderator/admin in a special interest forum with regular use for more than 15 years. Even there, I have not seen private messages cause any unusual administrative or moderation workload.

In Xenforo software, private messages also have a “Report” button, allowing users to easily report incidents. Moderators can then process these reports efficiently, especially when multiple moderators are responsible. No duplicate work is done.
I’m not sure what options the current software offers… Is it still Xenforo? In any case, there is already a “Report” button under every post, but it does not seem to link to anything meaningful.

In Zurich, people greet with “Grüezi,” but it’s not always popular everywhere???? Where I’m from, people say “Hoi” or “Grüessech”???? [...] In Switzerland, does “Estrich” refer to the attic room????

I increasingly suspect, @webmaster, that the multiple question marks appearing here often represent some kind of punctuation emoticon that the forum software cannot interpret and therefore mis-transcribes.

Clicking to enlarge images from older posts does not work for me. A new window opens, but it stays blank. It works with newer posts.
