Hello everyone, I have purchased METOD kitchen cabinet fronts with a melamine surface from IKEA and am now looking for specific care instructions. Specifically, I am interested in how to properly clean the fronts without damaging the surface, which cleaning agents to avoid, and if there are any special tips for removing stubborn stains. It would also be helpful if anyone has experience with how melamine fronts hold up with regular use in everyday kitchen situations, especially regarding scratches and moisture. Thanks for sharing your expertise!

Just a quick question for everyone: What about heavy grease or oil stains? Can you simply use dish soap to clean those, or are there special methods to avoid damaging the melamine coating?
Also, I’m curious about how the surface reacts to contact with hot cookware. Has anyone had experience with whether heat affects melamine fronts?

Heat, on the other hand, is a different matter—placing hot cookware directly on the surface is not a good idea. Melamine doesn’t tolerate heat well and can discolor or even warp. So it’s better to use a trivet or heat-resistant mat to keep the surface flawless.
Nothing feels better than a clean, well-maintained surface that hasn’t been damaged by oven heat 😄.
