Good morning everyone, I recently bought a Hemnes wardrobe from Ikea and discovered during assembly that several important parts are missing. These are connectors and screws that are essential for the stability of the wardrobe. What exactly can I do if parts are missing when assembling an Ikea Hemnes? Are there specific procedures I should follow to quickly and easily get replacements? I am relying on a practical answer, as I urgently need to complete the wardrobe.

In principle, you should first carefully check the contents of the packaging

I basically agree, but with Hemnes, you should also check the building materials themselves and not just the visible packaging. Parts can be incorrectly sorted in the assembly instructions or accidentally placed in a different package. Carefulness is important before requesting replacements.

I recently reordered a complete set of connecting screws for a Hemnes shelf. The internal process at Ikea is well organized: you report the missing part, providing the exact part number from the assembly instructions, and the package arrives within a week. It is important to communicate with customer service preferably in writing to have a documented record. Contacting them by phone may be faster, but written communication is more secure.

I love turning things like this into a little adventure – and you can do it too! 😉 Just contact the Ikea service, request genuine replacement parts, and take a little break while you wait. Sometimes the next part fits perfectly only after you've built up a bit of anticipation. But seriously: the replacement parts delivery usually works really fast.

Thanks for the helpful responses so far! I have since contacted Ikea customer service and provided the missing connector parts, including the model number and invoice. Unfortunately, I was informed that the delivery may take about 10 working days. Has anyone experienced faster delivery here? Are there any tips on how to speed up the spare parts order? I don’t want to delay the project unnecessarily.

While this is the official estimate, there are cases where the local IKEA store can provide the parts more quickly if they have them in stock. It’s worth calling the store directly to check availability and see if pick-up is possible. Also, taking advantage of extended opening hours can help you visit at a convenient time.

Alternatively, you can try visiting the customer service desk at your local Ikea store. Sometimes they have replacement parts available on-site that have not yet been entered into the digital system. It doesn’t hurt to ask directly.
