In our new build, a walk-in shower will be installed, with both the floor and the shower walls tiled using broken mosaic tiles. Broken mosaic has a significantly higher grout ratio compared to "regular" tiles, which makes me think that waterproofing the walls requires more attention than with large tiles.

The floor will be constructed using a "naturally waterproof," tileable shower board.

What is the best way to waterproof the transition to the walls and the walls themselves? (Gypsum plaster)

Should I use waterproof fleece, overlapping with a waterproof tape between the floor and the wall?

I hope you can provide some advice... if I have forgotten any important details, I can gladly supply them.

Best regards,
Christian

Hello,

Normally, the shower board comes with important processing instructions or guidelines from the manufacturer. You would find this information there. If the instructions are no longer available, you can look for them on the manufacturer’s website or ask the building materials supplier. It is important to use only products approved by the manufacturer, as otherwise problems can arise quickly.

Yes, I have already looked at the detailed drawings of a few shower unit candidates... but most of the time, there is little to no information about the walls. – Which makes sense, as this is generally not the concern of the unit manufacturer.

Hi,

Well, the manufacturers of the panels might not be directly involved, but they still like to sell the appropriate accessories, such as corner tapes or other prefabricated components. Besides, no one would install such a board anymore if it caused only problems. For example, the company Illbruck gladly sells these types of accessories.

Which manufacturer do you have?
