Hello dear Ikea fans,

maybe someone can help me.
I am considering (even though it might seem a bit impractical at first) installing a built-in refrigerator into the VÄRDE base cabinet. Of course, the back panel would be left open.

Is this possible? Has anyone perhaps done this before?

I would appreciate any help.
Best regards,

It should work. I vaguely remember a case where this was also attempted. But... minor renovations are naturally a prerequisite.

Well, that sounds great already! Thanks a lot for the quick response!
Do you still remember what exactly needs to be modified (apart from the back needing to remain open)?
It would be bad if I buy a refrigerator and then end up with a moderately difficult contractor issue.

Thanks and best regards,

Not really... Just give it a try, and if you encounter any problems, get in touch. We’ll do our best to help. With a bit of DIY skill, it shouldn’t be an issue or a major construction project.

Hello again!

Thank you, Maverick, for your previous answers.
Now I’ve hit a problem choosing the refrigerator. Due to the feet of the VÄRDE system, the usable height inside the cabinet is less than in “standard” built-in cabinets.

No matter how long I search, I can’t find a refrigerator with the right height.

If anyone comes across something suitable, I would appreciate a tip.

Best regards,

[Edit: not a fridge with cabinet door front. I really want to fully hide it inside the base cabinet. That’s why I need a door-on-door system.]

How much height is missing? Is the refrigerator designed to be installed under a counter? Or is it more than just a few centimeters (inches)? What about the option of removing the floor slab and placing the refrigerator directly on the floor? It probably doesn’t look very good, right?
