ᐅ V100 boards or tongue-and-groove panels for the attic

Hello,

I’m wondering whether I should use the planned (and budgeted) V100 floorboards for the attic or if it would be better to choose tongue-and-groove boards (+633 euros / 21mm [0.8 inches]) for the attic of the bungalow (without a concrete ceiling).

The advantage would probably be that tongue-and-groove boards can absorb moisture better and allow it to pass through to the (otherwise untreated) attic, meaning they are more vapor permeable than V100 boards.

Am I understanding this correctly? Is the additional cost worth it? What would you do?

Regards,
Voki

@Voki1: How far along are you with the construction?

Yesterday and today, the ceiling has been installed. The roof is still uncovered but will be completed next week. Now the partition walls in the bathroom need to be finished, followed by the remaining plumbing preparations, and then plastering at the beginning of next week. Progress is going well. Around 3 to 6 workers are on site every day. Everything is very positive. We are more than satisfied with our general contractor, especially considering the repeated inspections by the expert. Additional costs for upgrades are absolutely fair.

We have made some progress. Tomorrow, the insulation for the screed will be installed, and the underfloor heating will be laid.

Are you building a bungalow? I think I read that in a thread quite recently.

Well, then I might still catch up with you (unfortunately, I have zero influence over that myself ). Yes, a bungalow, although I wasn’t very enthusiastic about it at first. But now it already looks really nice, and the whole family is looking forward to moving in. Our (almost) six-year-old no longer wants to swap his room with my home office.

We have occasionally considered a bungalow. After all, we are not getting any younger.

However, we will not stay in the Rhineland region until old age. This means we will sell the house again in 10-15 years and move to the coast. Therefore, we are planning a city villa with two full floors.

Obtaining a building permit / planning permission would actually be possible. Since yesterday, the construction site has been completely empty. No tradespeople involved in the interior work have shown up today.

Only the utility providers are all present on site.

I’m so glad we’re through with it. This is roughly how things looked around this time last year for us.
