Hello everyone,

Yesterday we already attended the interior door selection appointment, and we were recommended hollow-chipboard strip doors – which, according to our general contractor, are hollow core doors.

1. Are hollow-chipboard strip doors commonly installed in single-family homes, and are these doors considered “adequate”?
2. Is a hollow core door generally more expensive than strip doors?

What is your opinion of the manufacturer “Durat”? We had preliminarily decided on their "CPL oak glazed" finish.

I have just received the offer from our other prefabricated house supplier:

Westag Trend Collection with HPL surface – 93.00€ (about $100) extra compared to our "standard" doors.

Are these doors really of higher quality than the ones mentioned above? Ultimately, the doors mentioned above have hollow chipboard strips, which I understand. According to the construction and performance specifications, however, we receive hollow chipboard core doors as standard.

I find it quite expensive to pay an extra 93€ (about $100) per door – as I said, with the other prefabricated house supplier, everything was strangely included as standard without additional costs. Of course, I still need to compare the manufacturers.
