ᐅ Pipe beams or pipe beam strips?

Hello everyone,

Yesterday we already attended the interior door selection appointment, and we were recommended hollow-chipboard strip doors – which, according to our general contractor, are hollow core doors.

1. Are hollow-chipboard strip doors commonly installed in single-family homes, and are these doors considered “adequate”?
2. Is a hollow core door generally more expensive than strip doors?

What is your opinion of the manufacturer “Durat”? We had preliminarily decided on their "CPL oak glazed" finish.

Here is an overview of door cores: honeycomb core, tubular chipboard strips, tubular chipboard, solid chipboard (listed in order of quality and price).
The more substantial and solid the interior, the stronger the door. This also significantly affects sound insulation. I would not recommend using tubular chipboard.

I am not familiar with Durat.

Sorry, Durat is probably a model line, and it most likely concerns HUGA.

Ok. Durat belongs to the Hörmann Group and manufactures reliable doors. Durat Basic is probably the entry-level line – comparable to basic hardware store doors. That doesn’t mean it’s bad, but it is simple and affordable (prices online start at around 150€ including the frame).

What do you think about the manufacturer WESTAG? We looked at doors from this company through another specialist dealer when selecting samples.

You can also buy from them. Or Prüm. Or Jeld-Wen. Doors are generally not a particularly demanding product.

It gets more interesting with special features. Flush doors. Wall-aligned. Ornaments. And so on.
