Hello everyone,

for my new apartment, which already has a built-in kitchen, I still need a trash bin. I came across the Rationell pull-out. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find any information about how many bins fit inside and which types are suitable. Are there options to have 2 or 3 compartments?

It can fit either 1x Rationell black (32 liters (8.5 gallons)) or 2x Rationell gray bins... The gray ones are recommended because they come with a lid and are easier to fill with bags...

Okay, thanks. Am I correct in understanding that there is no solution where the lids stay in place automatically when I pull the drawer out? That means I would have to lift the lids separately every time, right?

One more question about the cutlery tray: I have a drawer measuring 40cm x 45cm (16in x 18in). Am I missing something, or are there really only much smaller trays or ones that are 50cm (20in) long?

Unfortunately, you’re right – Ikea doesn’t offer a system like that...

You have an interesting drawer size there...? That dimension is unfamiliar to me – a 45cm (18 inch) depth is usually only available with a 60cm (24 inch) width and is typically used for a sink base cabinet (40cm (16 inch) wide only comes in 35cm (14 inch) depth). With a 60cm x 35cm (24 inch x 14 inch) drawer, you could place a 40cm (16 inch) cutlery tray sideways, but if your drawer really is the size you mentioned, your only option might be the small Rationell, unless you find one elsewhere that fits better – unfortunately, I can’t help with that.
