Hello,

we are having some trouble fitting the four wooden panels into the frame (into the "L" shape). It seems that there is too much adhesive. In any case, the frame fits together fine on its own (without the panels).

When adding the panels, the first panel already causes a misalignment that gets worse with each additional panel. The shorter side of the second "L" of the frame no longer fits properly.

I have read that some adhesive should be removed. Is that really necessary? How much should be removed and with what? If I were to have IKEA assemblers do this, would there be an additional cost? After all, I assume that assembling an IKEA furniture piece should be possible alone with normal DIY skills and the instructions.

Best regards

The IKEA installers are not employed by IKEA but by an external company, and they expect to be paid. Furthermore, they do not modify doors; they only assemble them, and if something does not fit, they stop the installation and claim a product defect.

So, this approach is pointless.

The simplest solution:

Take the defective parts back to IKEA and exchange them.

But:
Could it be that you mixed up the side panels or the bottom/top parts? Simply try swapping them if there are no labels on the rails.

Hello,

I managed to put it together reasonably well yesterday.
You probably need to be twice as precise as usual...
Also, contrary to the instructions, I didn’t fully tighten the screws at the corner of the first “L.” This allowed some play at the corner. I did the same at the other corners, which enabled me to connect all four corners; with a bit of pressure, I was then able to align some screws into the correct holes. Now, only the screws need to be fully tightened. The most important thing is that the four wooden panels sit perpendicular to the long batten.

I do feel it’s a bit tight now, but this way the door will hold even if the wood panels shrink slightly. And nothing will fall out for sure.

Hopefully it works. I’ll check back once it’s finished or if I notice anything else 🙂

Best regards

Hello,

The cabinet is now in place.
Building the carcass along with the surrounding components was straightforward. For the next cabinet, I would pay even more attention to positioning the top track so that the hanging door, on the more visible side (if there is one), can slide fully to that side and align flush with the cabinet side panel. In my case, there is currently a 2.5mm (0.1 inch) offset.

The doors fit well despite the small deviations mentioned.
At least the door panels no longer stick out towards you...

Best regards,
