We will soon need a temporary power distribution board for the construction site. We can either collect quotes for rental, delivery, and installation... or buy one ourselves (used, for example on eBay or local classified ads) and have it installed, then sell it afterwards.

What is the best/most cost-effective option?

What kind of temporary power distribution board do we need? 63A / 32A / 16A or 400V? With or without a meter?
How big/heavy is it? Can I pick it up and transport it myself by car, or is a truck required?
Of course, I will not do the installation myself (I am not an electrician), so it would be done by a professional.

Who is responsible for the installation/connection - the local utility company or "our" regular electrician?

Thanks, and best regards,

The temporary power distribution board is usually provided by the contractor.
Now it depends on whether you get the electricity from a neighbor or from the utility company.

Hello Knöpfchen, no, our contractor has already informed us that we have to supply and install the temporary power distribution box ourselves, regardless of the company.

In the meantime, I have already bought a used temporary power distribution box myself. I still need the cables.
Who does the installation, the electrician, the contractor, or the utility company?

Do you mean a temporary power distribution box? It is requested from the energy supplier, installed and connected by the local electrician, and then you pay for the electricity and rental of the unit.

Hello, construction power and construction power box are the same, I think.
No, construction power is applied for from the energy supplier, but not the construction power box.

This may be handled differently depending on the utility provider.

With us, EWE, the construction power is applied for by the builder, then the utility provider installs a connection pedestal. After that, the electrical contractor, who holds a key and the completion certificate for the pedestal, connects the temporary power distribution box.

The meter is located in the connection pedestal installed by the utility provider.
