ᐅ Is a Separate Meter and Electricity Tariff for an Air-to-Water Heat Pump Beneficial?

Hello everyone,

We have an air-to-water heat pump in our newly built house and are considering whether it makes sense to install a separate meter for it and to get a separate tariff. Do you have any experience with this? Is it worthwhile?

You just have to do the math. Additional meter fees versus saved cents per kWh.
Some utility providers don’t agree with this. And as far as I know, with photovoltaic systems, self-consumption for the heat pump usually isn’t possible without significant effort.
But I’m sure those with more knowledge will chime in here.

We will get a second meter; it makes sense for us. Just go to Verivox and compare heat pump electricity and regular electricity for your area.

If you choose a discounted heat pump tariff, you purchase 100% of the energy for the heat pump.
Parameters:
Electricity consumption of the heat pump (HP kWh)
Share of energy demand covered by photovoltaic (Photovoltaic %)
Generation cost of photovoltaic energy (Photovoltaic €/kWh)
Cost of standard tariff (Standard €/kWh)
Basic meter fee (Meter fee)
Cost of heat pump tariff (Heat pump €/kWh)

HP kWh × Photovoltaic % × Photovoltaic €/kWh + HP kWh × (1 – Photovoltaic %) × Standard €/kWh = Comparison cost without separate meter
HP kWh × Heat pump €/kWh + Meter fee = Comparison cost with separate meter and heat pump tariff.

Okay, I might ask a rather basic question. Aren’t two separate tariffs (base price + kWh rate) more expensive than using a single all-inclusive tariff?
