Or only in certain areas! Shower, behind the toilet, above the washbasin, and above the bathtub. Tiles bordered with trim strips, the rest of the wall wallpapered and painted. We did it this way 8 years ago and haven’t regretted it a single day!

So, we will probably go with option 4: full-height (floor-to-ceiling) tiles in the shower, otherwise up to 1.20 m (4 feet) high.

Shower 2m (6 ft 7 in) + x, half-height wall behind the toilet/sink, and paint the rest normally
