I now have doubts about whether this is sufficient. Hiring an architect would be too expensive for me. Maybe someone can picture this from my description and help me. Is this a common way to build in order to have an open terrace area?

Bauexperte10 Nov 2011 10:21Hello,
How many meters (feet) is the terrace roof supposed to span or is currently spanning?
If you are building new, you will need an architect and can ask them accordingly. If you want to buy an existing property, the architect at the time should have been responsible for the design.
Kind regards

frettkatze10 Nov 2011 12:53Thank you for the responses. This concerns an existing property. The house is 15 meters (49 feet) long, and the open area, meaning the terrace, would then be 5 meters (16 feet).
I’m not a fan of the solution with the diagonal, thin beam. I’ve never seen anything like it. Let’s see if I can reach the architect and how forthcoming they will be.
