Hello,

at the moment, it unfortunately doesn’t make sense to sow grass seed.
When do you think would be the right time to establish our lawn?

Best regards

Today is October 8th, and we supposedly have at least 14 sunny days ahead with temperatures around 20°C (68°F).
Is it still possible to sow grass seed before it gets really cold? We are located at about 600 meters (2,000 feet) above sea level.
Or is it simply better to wait until spring?

Just put it in. Still working.

Just keep it simple; you’ll need to reseed anyway. But if it works, you’ll already have a lawn in spring.

It will work. Don’t forget the fertilizer.

It might work or it might not. Personally, I have decided to overseed the areas of my lawn that were burned in the summer only in the spring. Grass typically needs temperatures around 10°C (50°F) even at night, and we have already had many nights with temperatures well below that, sometimes as low as 3°C (37°F). The next few days are expected to be warm enough. Whether it will germinate by then remains to be seen. I prefer to wait until spring. Additionally, in our case, I always have to watch freshly seeded spots very carefully because of children, cats, and dogs. With that combination, I thought it was too risky.
