Hello dear members, I have been thinking about getting this smart home system for a while. I would like to know if any of you have something similar. What devices do you have connected, what do you control, what are your experiences, and which provider do you use? I’m not sure if it’s really necessary, but I’m a person who enjoys these kinds of gadgets. Money is not an issue for now.

I had the same situation a few years ago. I wanted to do almost everything myself and actually did. For a KNX system, you “only” need the power supply at the start and some way to access programming (via USB or LAN). Everything else is optional. From my experience, you can save quite a bit on cabling. In the end, I “only” needed EIB cables at the light switches, motion detectors, and control cabinets. Expensive components are, for example, the roller shutter actuators and the light switches. For the light switches, I ended up with 200€ touch screen models, which is relatively inexpensive in the KNX area. For lighting control, I relied entirely on DALI, which is a great system.

I was just about to say, the server outage is quite a big issue. Personally, I’m still not completely convinced about the whole story...
