ᐅ Is it possible to shorten the width of an Ikea Billy bookshelf?

I want to install a Billy 80/202 plus extension in my living room. The wall niche for it is 3.16 meters (10.4 feet) long. Have you had any experience trimming the Billy and the extension in width? 🙄
