Hello everyone,

I’m about to start the exterior landscaping soon, and I noticed that the floor-level windows on the outside are not sealed properly, as shown in the picture.

What is the best way to seal them?

Thanks in advance.

The exterior wall insulation system (ETICS) makes the corners airtight, doesn’t it, or am I misunderstanding something?

You are mistaken because ETICS (External Thermal Insulation Composite Systems) is not waterproof – water can penetrate behind it.

Then that is probably a defect, and the architect will receive a letter about it.

Oh man, you really got a dud there. This probably won’t be the last defect...

Fortunately, I had already discovered many defects at the time, which were also fixed immediately. But I have to agree with you – I will definitely never be friends with this architect in this lifetime. I could have saved myself the architect, as I did most of the work myself anyway.

It looks like poor workmanship. Here are some example photos of our house, before and after installing the exterior insulation and finish system (EIFS). Finally, a dimpled membrane will be added to the facade, followed by the splash protection strip or, in this case, the patio paving.
