Hello everyone,

I’m about to start the exterior landscaping soon, and I noticed that the floor-level windows on the outside are not sealed properly, as shown in the picture.

What is the best way to seal them?

Thanks in advance.

The windows were sealed during installation, except at the bottom. Bitumen was applied after the windows were installed, but the areas around the windows were left untreated for about 60cm (24 inches) in height.

You are mistaken – waterproofing is done first, and then again at the connections after installing the windows.

Yes, you are right. First waterproof the shell, then install the window. The latter is probably usually done by the window installer?

No, I already mentioned here who usually does that 😉.

I think we are bringing too many things into this now. Previously, my entire ground floor was sealed with bitumen waterproofing membrane. The only thing that was overlooked in my case is the sealing at the bottom of the windows on the outside. The exterior plasterer is coming tomorrow to take a look at it, after all, he shares some responsibility—this should have been noticed.

No, he can’t do anything about that…

Isn't there something in the VOB stating that each trade must check the work of the previous trade beforehand? Or something similar?
