Hello everyone,
I am currently renovating a single-family house that I plan to move into in April. The house is empty now, so it’s a good opportunity to refinish the hardwood flooring. It is solid wood strip parquet. The floor is coated with lacquer, but the finish is no longer in good condition.
Otherwise, the floor is in very good shape—no dents, scratches, or damage. So essentially, it’s just about re-sealing the surface.
Since the parquet is installed (almost) throughout the entire house and having a company do such a large area would be very expensive, I would prefer to do it myself.
I can rent a sanding machine, but the rental fees are quite high, especially since I would need the machine for several days. My plan is to buy a used machine and eventually sell it again!

Because I don’t need to remove much material from the parquet (no damage), I was thinking about using a single-disc machine. Is this sufficient for sanding off the old lacquer?

Online, you can find many different single-disc machines, often referred to as “floor polishers.” Can these floor polishers also sand, or are sanding machines a separate category?

I am particularly considering the “Taski Ranger 200” at the moment. Is it suitable for this purpose? (Unfortunately, I can’t post links.)

I would really appreciate any advice on which machines are suitable!

Also, any tips on where to get good lacquer for sealing—or recommendations for manufacturers of quality lacquer—would be very helpful!

Thank you very much!

Renting is more cost-effective in comparison.
Just ask at Obi in Harburg – you often pay for 4 days but can use the equipment for 7.

The principle is always the same: sanding and polishing.
