Good evening,
We have the following problem: sometimes there is a smell of marijuana or hashish in the children's room. We recently bought the house. It is a prefabricated house with a solid basement. The children's room was completely renovated, meaning new flooring, new wallpaper, and a dropped ceiling installed. This smell does not occur all the time. We cut some holes in the wall to check whether the mineral wool insulation was okay, which it is. The insulation is dry and does not smell like that. We also found no animals or anything else. Please help, as we are getting desperate. Oh, and no one in our household or the neighborhood smokes marijuana.

A little anecdote on the topic. I visited relatives over the weekend.
It’s a purely residential area with only single-family homes and still fairly large plots from the 1970s. Naturally, most neighbors are over 65.
There I am, standing in the herb garden, wondering where this sweet smell is coming from... I sniffed all the herbs... nothing. I thought, that smells like marijuana. I look around. There’s the nearly 70-year-old couple from next door at their skylight, openly smoking a big joint out the window...
What do we learn from this? Never underestimate your neighbors.

A purely residential area, all detached houses with still quite large plots from the 1970s. Accordingly, the neighborhood is mostly 65 years old and over.

Do these also bloom at this time of year?We have the same "problem."
Sometimes the bathroom smells like that.
My wife and I both know for sure it wasn’t either of us♂️.
In fact, we found out it’s some kind of plant outside in the garden... and I mean a DIFFERENT plant... not cannabis.

Hello
interesting thread.
Try calling a larger police station. Ask about drug detection dogs and whether they would sniff a sample of the scent from a jar. If the dog gets excited afterwards, you can still request to have the inspection done on site. Possibly, the previous owner built a very secure hiding place for their cannabis, and you may have wallpapered over the access point.
