Hello everyone,

we are planning an electrical renovation and are wondering how to proceed in the areas of the room ceilings. There are some high-quality suspended wood ceilings that I would prefer not to remove just for laying a cable.

Is it possible to connect the old wiring to the new electrical system until a future ceiling renovation?
What regulations need to be considered and how should this be done?

What does the electrician say? Without knowing what has been installed, probably no one will be able to help you properly.

Oh dear... what’s going on, why am I suddenly showing up with this nickname instead of Neige? *shrugs*

It’s already on the to-do list.

Unfortunately, I do not yet have access to the property, but I estimate that about three options are likely:
1. three-core cable
2. two-core cable
3. twin and earth cable

My personal research has shown:
1. technically no problem
2. only with lamps that do not require a protective conductor
3. not permitted

To clarify the question a bit, under which conditions can the old wiring remain?
