ᐅ Preparing for Future Photovoltaic Installation?

For my new build, I am not planning a photovoltaic system initially, but I want to keep the option open for the future as much as possible.

Which cables should be installed from the meter cabinet to the roof so that a photovoltaic system can be retrofitted later as easily and cost-effectively as possible? How many cables? What cross-sections? How much space should be allowed for in the meter cabinet?

I’d like to join in with a question. Roughly, how much does it cost to have conduit installed for the photovoltaic system? Just to get an approximate idea.

Thank you!

I also had the electrician install thick cables. My photovoltaic installer didn’t want those and preferred to run his own cables. So better to install conduit or, even better, set up the photovoltaic system at the same time.
What was the reason? Did he use technically different cables, or did he just want to keep the profit from his new wiring?

Something about direct current and alternating current, I didn’t investigate further, I just had the conduit. Maybe for safety reasons? The voltage is significantly higher, and the two solar cables inside the conduit each have only one conductor.

Also, there are no unnecessary connection points; the cables run directly from the roof to the inverter.

Install only empty conduits; the solar technician will bring the cables anyway.

But you know how astronomically priced cables can be from installers sometimes. Since I’m installing all my other cables myself, why should I make an exception for photovoltaic cables?

Since this also concerns the warranty, I would not include any third-party components in my system.
