Hello, I’m Christina (new to the forum)!
We are currently building a house and, once the project is completed, are considering adding a pool in the garden. What are your experiences? Can it be done as a DIY project? What type of heating have you chosen? How did it go for you?
Thanks in advance and best regards,
Christina

you have excellent water quality and won’t become a slave to your pool. Exactly. You become both a slave and a chemist at the same time. (even with an above-ground pool…)
Especially with an above-ground pool.
With automatic dosing of pH and inorganic chlorine, the maintenance effort is minimal.
With tablets (organic chlorine), however, you need to change the water and measure the free chlorine...
The filtration system for above-ground pools is always undersized.
Therefore, plan correctly from the start and enjoy.
For cleaning, use a pool robot.

Above-ground pools always have undersized filtration systems.
That's why it's best to plan properly from the start and then just enjoy.
For cleaning, use a pool robot. But you quickly go well beyond $25,000, that should be mentioned.
Since I didn’t want to be burdened and my budget was around $15,000–$20,000, I gave up on it.
I prefer to take the kids to the public outdoor pool and visit the sauna in the evenings. Then I get refreshments and enjoy great infusions.
A pool definitely adds style.
And if you indulge in full automation luxury, it’s also very relaxing.

For cleaning, use a pool robot. If I were that rich, my caretaker would take care of it, or I would hire a pool boy. 😀
I know someone who built a pool for around 10,000 to 15,000 (USD equivalent) – I think it took about a year of DIY work, so it was very demanding. The liner was leaking, and so on. He keeps talking about what he has to fix next with the pool. Fun fact: they live just 200m (220 yards) away in a straight line from the local outdoor swimming pool, where a day ticket costs less than 5 euros. Everyone can draw their own conclusions 😀
