While searching for an indoor parking space for our travel truck, we are now building a house with two residential units and a large garage.
Since the plot next to ours has not been sold for the past three years, probably due to its unfavorable shape, I got the idea at the end of January to build a hall there for our truck. After two phone calls, we agreed on the purchase price with the seller. A brief conversation with a friend who is an architect revealed that an ancillary building is only allowed together with a main building, which is a residential house. Then, after a short talk with my son, we decided to build a house with two residential units.

I quickly sketched a draft and roughly calculated the costs. In mid-February, we had a meeting with the bank. At the beginning of April, we had the notarization appointment, and on April 15, earthworks began.

We are now building a single-pitched roof house with two residential units and a large garage.

Hello

The roof pitch of the house is 5°. Construction from the inside: drywall, 60mm (2.4 inches) installation cavity and insulation, 18mm (0.7 inches) OSB, 280mm (11 inches) laminated timber and insulation, 16mm (0.6 inches) wood fiber board, 60mm (2.4 inches) laminated timber air gap, 21mm (0.8 inches) boarding, bitumen waterproof membrane.

We used the same build method for our last house as well. With a building length to depth ratio of 2 to 1, this results in very harmonious proportions.

Hello,

here’s a brief update.
Yesterday, the screed was poured in the upper floor apartment.
On the ground floor, I am currently plastering the walls.
Out of the planned 320,000 euros, about 70,000 euros are still available.

Remaining items:
Pellet boiler and solar system 17,000 euros, sanitary fittings and bathroom furniture 11,000 euros, final kitchen payment 10,000 euros, remaining electrical work 7,000 euros, staircase 5,500 euros, screed 1,800 euros, insulated sectional door 2,500 euros, access path 2,000 euros, remaining painting work 1,000 euros.
The rest will go towards exterior window sills, floor coverings, wooden terrace, lawn, and two fruit trees.

Here are some impressions of the upper floor apartment, which is shaped by the south-sloping single-pitch roof.
The house was built as a single-story structure. The ceiling height in the kitchen corner, utility room, and bathroom is 2.17 m (7 ft 1 in) at the lowest point, and 2.77 m (9 ft 1 in) at the highest point in the living, bedroom, and children’s rooms.

@wrobel Could you update us again with some pictures? I'm especially interested in seeing the appearance of the monopitch roof.
