Our washing machine should be installed in our own basement room because we definitely do not want it in the kitchen. Is it possible to have a water connection installed here? There is no communal laundry room.

This is what we have been told so far: The domestic water pipe runs across our basement door. A flange would need to be installed here to tap into the water supply. The wastewater would have to be pumped, possibly with a centrifugal sewage pump, to the wastewater pipe, which is presumably located in the adjacent room (see photo).

What would be the exact procedure here? Does anyone have experience with something similar in their building and can share disadvantages (such as past problems or noise issues)?

In principle, it should be possible. Two other tenants in the building already have this setup, but in their case the wastewater flows directly through their basement. They keep quiet about it because a few retirees in the building tend to cause trouble over such matters.

Thank you, dan

Hello, based on the information provided, it is difficult to give a definitive answer. The washing machine is supplied with potable water, which you refer to as utility water. A T-joint must be installed in this pipe, not a flange, but since this is apparently a multi-family building, a water meter is also required to measure consumption. I don’t understand the purpose of the pump, since you say the wastewater pipe is nearby. A washing machine can pump up to about 1.8 meters (6 feet) high. Consult a trusted plumber and you’ll have clarity within 30 minutes!

Thank you, Vicky Pedia... I also checked Wikipedia but didn’t find anything – we really need to follow up on this here...
Best regards,
