Hello,
We have had a new METOD IKEA kitchen for 3 weeks now and are experiencing problems with the oven (RUTINERAD).
At first, when it heated over 200 degrees Celsius (392°F), it made a very loud rattling noise. When the technician came, he taped something on the cooler because it was vibrating and hitting the casing. That reduced the worst part, but now, one week after the technician’s visit, it rattles again—much quieter, but continuously, regardless of the temperature. If you press it against the oven, the noise disappears. So, somewhere the metal is hitting metal again.
The technician said there is nothing that can be done about the rattling because the appliance is simply built so cheaply.
The noise is annoying, and we are not happy with the condition. If it cannot be repaired, we would rather spend more money on a better one, just not from IKEA if all of theirs are like this.
What do you think our chances are of having them take the oven back or exchange it for another?
Regards,
Timo

IKEA-Experte28 Aug 2014 18:16The oven should not rattle, and if this were generally the case due to poor quality, you would likely find more reports about it.
With my Siemens oven, there were also such noises during the convection mode. This was caused by the cooktop’s power cable touching the back panel.

I have also owned the RUTINERAD oven for a few weeks now. From what I understand, this oven has a built-in cooling function, so it is not necessary to open the door. During this cooling phase, air circulates inside the oven, which can cause the installed sliding rails or baking trays to rattle slightly. If this noise bothers you, you should either remove all trays after use or avoid using this function – with the door open, the oven (in my experience) makes no noise ... and it also warms the room, which is very convenient during the cold season!
Best regards,
Annika
