Hello everyone,
A meeting with the electrician for the electrical planning was arranged on relatively short notice. Based on comments from other threads and the inspection of the neighboring house—which has already been completed—I have created an initial draft of the electrical plan and would appreciate your feedback. I have attached the necessary layouts. Additionally, I have the following questions and notes:

A meeting with the electrician for the electrical planning was arranged on relatively short notice. Based on comments from other threads and the inspection of the neighboring house—which has already been completed—I have created an initial draft of the electrical plan and would appreciate your feedback. I have attached the necessary layouts. Additionally, I have the following questions and notes:
Notes:
- In the kitchen, I have only marked the "free" electrical outlets. Outlets for the oven, refrigerator, etc. are currently not included.
- Single sockets are mostly installed where there is also a light switch. Otherwise, I have planned multiple sockets everywhere.
- The wall lamps refer to the lighting of the staircase.
- The access points (APs) are to be powered via Power over Ethernet (PoE). I want to avoid visible cables running from the access point to the outlet. The electrician suggested installing the LAN socket about 1.5 cm (0.6 inches) flush-mounted, so a cable can be plugged in easily. Is 1.5 cm sufficient, or does the socket need to be recessed deeper?
- I have read that APs perform best when mounted on the ceiling for signal distribution. Now the question is whether, given our compact house, wall mounting might also be possible, as I could then hide them, for example, in corners.
- Do you see the need for a LAN connection in the bedroom? We currently do not plan to have a TV or similar devices there, and if so, I think Wi-Fi should be sufficient. What are your thoughts?
- We have (unfortunately) not yet started the kitchen planning, so we do not have an installation plan for the kitchen. Is it still possible to create a mounting plan for the kitchen, or would this not make sense for the electrician? I am trying to schedule an appointment at the kitchen studio at short notice but cannot guarantee it.
- What can be improved? Did I forget anything?
Best regards,
ConnyJash

Pwnage61929 Jun 2022 14:53We are currently working on the electrical planning.
We will definitely install enough Wi-Fi access points on the ceiling, one per floor, plus one in the garden (no repeaters).
For the video doorbell preparation, I was told to use a J-Y(ST)Y 4x2x0.8 cable plus Cat cable, or is a Cat duplex cable the better choice?
I would also avoid installing a high-voltage outlet in the garage as a wallbox preparation. That way, you can simply plug in a mobile wallbox and you’re good to go.

We were also convinced to prepare for it.
However, we did not find a practical use case for it in a single-family home.
It wasn’t easy to fit the cable mess into a standard doorbell. ;-)

It wasn’t easy to fit the tangle of cables into a standard doorbell. ;-) First, install an in-wall junction box suitable for outdoor use. There is usually plenty of leftover LAN cable length to fit inside.

I'll discuss this with the electrician. At the moment, except for the outlets on the house exterior wall, I don’t need any power there.
I’ll clarify exactly what preparations I need for a wallbox and then have just that installed.
That’s correct, I’ll take care of that over the weekend. I will probably have to create a separate plan for this, otherwise everything will become too confusing.
Honestly, I haven’t really thought about that yet.
Yes, the garage door will be electrically operated. I’ll discuss that again.

Thanks for the input. I’ll do some research again regarding the mounting and installation of the access points. The Unifi access points have already caught my eye.
For the roller shutters, I would try to work with integrated timers, but I will ask about that as well. App control also sounds appealing if the costs remain reasonable.

- Will there be a photovoltaic system? If not, prepare empty conduit from the roof to the utility room.

- Will electricity be needed in the garden? This could also be added later via a sub-distribution panel. So don’t undersize the cable for the garage.

- High-voltage outlet for the garage? Not sure if you need one. Around here, almost everyone has one in their garage.

- I notice the overview is missing the light switches and which lights should be controlled from two or more switches.

Pwnage61930 Jun 2022 09:39Which APs would you recommend?
Many people use Unifi, but there are also options like TP-Link Omada, which is said to have good value for money.
Netgear is also known for good APs.
Which ones are the best?
Which video doorbell would you recommend?
Doorbird?
