Hello
we are currently planning our new semi-detached house
we have now reached the topic of video doorbells and security cameras
I have a few questions
Video doorbell:
which "smart" video doorbell can you recommend without monthly fees?
The video doorbell should have the following features:
When someone rings, there should be an audible signal inside the house (like a normal doorbell) and a notification should be sent to our smartphones
The video doorbell should also be seamlessly compatible with a smart door lock (e.g. Nuki) and it should work seamlessly together with the security cameras (all in one app)
At what height from the ground should the video doorbell be installed?
Which "smart" security cameras can you recommend? Should we choose the same manufacturer as the video doorbell?
Where should security cameras be installed?
Definitely one on the garage to cover the area next to the house.
Then only the entrance area would be left—do we still need an additional security camera at the entrance if we already have a video doorbell?
I have already looked and the big well-known brands like Ring (Amazon) and Nest (Google) all rely on cloud solutions with monthly subscriptions if you want all features
I have also seen Eufy (Anker) which works without cloud and monthly fees
What do you think of these brands or which ones would you recommend we check out?

Hello,
In our KNX system, we have AXIS M3115-LVE FlatFace 2.8mm cameras installed under the roof around the house, covering all corners. These are linked to motion detectors and the exterior lighting, so the lights turn on whenever someone approaches. The door intercom is from Gira (Module 106) and integrated into the mailbox. It is installed at about 1.6 meters (5 feet) height. When the doorbell rings, it sounds on the iPad inside the house and on mobile phones, wherever you are, and the door can be opened remotely.
However, this is purely a budget question—there is no upper limit on what can be spent.
The cost in 2021 was approximately 7,500 € including VAT (excluding the associated burglar alarm system, about 3,000 €).

Which "smart" video doorbell can you recommend without monthly fees? 2N IP VERSO

At what height from the ground should the video doorbell be installed? That really depends on what you want to see and what you are allowed to record.

Where should security cameras be installed? Since there are many types of cameras and lenses available, there is no one-size-fits-all answer. Basically, install them wherever you want visibility. For instance, a hemispheric lens can cover an entire facade, or depending on the building structure, protrusions, etc., you might need two to three dome cameras.
Thanks for the quick responses.
I forgot to mention that we want to set up a wireless smart home system later and plan to use the new Matter standard.
Unfortunately, we don’t have the budget for KNX, and the developer’s electrician is also unwilling to install KNX.
Does the electrician need to install anything special for a video doorbell (special cables), or can we simply remove the conventional doorbell later and install the video doorbell?
What kind of connections do the cameras require? Is a power supply enough?

What connections do the cameras require? Is just a power connection enough? LAN/POE

But I would run LAN/POE plus telecommunication underground cable A-2YF(L)2Y 4x2x0.8 (or as many cores as you need).

No, that’s not possible. The conventional doorbell runs on 12V, which is not sufficient for your video doorbell. In this case, you should have at least a CAT cable installed, so later you can operate your system, for example, via PoE.

Edit: Sorry, I missed Mycraft’s post.
