Hello,
I am also considering installing a wallbox in the garage for the new build.
What additional costs have you encountered for this extra connection?
The garage is located right next to the utility room.
Thanks, Tom

Sorry, but a little more effort would be appreciated...

The components are:
- the wallbox itself
- the wiring
- connection and commissioning
??? But he is explicitly asking _which_ costs! Please answer his question instead of dissecting it.

I’m currently researching and installing as well. I could just start building as usual, but it would still be helpful to have some information.

@xMisterDx Everyone I’ve asked so far said that depending on the distance, at least 10mm² (about 8 AWG) is needed due to heat and voltage loss... but the price is quite high for 1 meter (3 feet) of underground cable, around 8-9€; I need 20 meters (65 feet).

I’ve never heard from whom I need to get approval for my wallbox.

And for wall penetration, is there recommended sealing help, like multi-service seals for single cables?

I estimate:
Cable about 200 euros
Distribution board with RCD about 150 euros
Wallbox about 400-500 euros
Small parts and cable ducts 100 euros
Installation is free since the electrician is in the family

Thanks

You need to contact your utility provider. Depending on the size, either just a notification or an approval is required.

An 11 kW cooktop (90 cm (35 inches) with 3 full cooking zones) is connected with 5x2.5 mm² wiring at the stove connection box.

For up to 25 m (82 feet), 6 mm² wiring is recommended for a 22 kW wall box, and that is sufficient. However, as I mentioned before, make sure to inform yourself first. You need to register 11 kW here, and I don’t know anyone who has been approved for 22 kW because the house connection is already only rated for 27 kW.

It doesn’t make sense to go for 22 kW anyway. At home, you should charge your battery as gently as possible, so 11 kW. Then an ID.4 Pro Performance is fully charged in 7 hours.

If you need faster charging, use a fast charger.

And for 11 kW, 5x4 mm² wiring can also be enough. It depends on the length. As always 😀

I have a 22kW and an 11kW wallbox.
The main power supply connection is 44kW.
Probably not necessary, but the idea behind it is that when friends visit from farther away, they can quickly recharge here and be able to return home without stopping.

Otherwise, I usually charge based on surplus photovoltaic power with around 10kW (10.7 hp) to use only solar electricity.

You won’t get approval for this here; neighbors have tried.
