ᐅ MALM bed squeaks despite tight screws – what could be causing this?

I have a Malm bed from Ikea that keeps squeaking even though all the screws are already tightened firmly. It’s quite annoying, especially since I’ve checked and retightened every visible fastener. The construction is relatively simple, but the noise doesn’t seem to come directly from any of the screws. I’m curious what might be causing the squeaking even though the screws are secure. Could it be material friction or specific points that should be checked for wear or overly tight fit? I would appreciate any well-informed guesses or tips, as I don’t want to take the bed apart without knowing where to focus.
Haha, the bed sings its own tune if you’re not careful ;-).
Jokes aside: If all screws are tight and it still creaks, it could really be due to the "wood music" – moisture, temperature, natural stresses. Sometimes it helps to systematically loosen all screws completely and then retighten them in a specific order with care (not too tight). You can also apply some wood oil or wax in between.
Maybe your bed just has a little stage career it really wants to show you 😉

One more tip: Not only the wax, but also retightening the screws after a few days can work wonders, because wood tends to settle over time.
Thanks for sharing your experience; it will definitely help many here. 🙂 Hopefully, your Malm will be quiet and comfortable again soon!
