Fummelbrett!10 Nov 2019 14:44A cheerful hello to everyone,
Does anyone happen to know how large a sample piece needs to be if you want to have a color shade mixed? We would like to repaint a section of the facade, matching the existing facade color as closely as possible. Before we chip away an unnecessarily large piece of plaster, I wanted to ask if anyone has experience with this.
Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find any information about this online.

By now, hardly anyone can do that manually. There are codes for machines that mix the paint. In the past... a maker would have mixed that for you on site.
If I were you, I would ask a specialist retailer (not a hardware store, as they usually don’t have a large pallet selection of facade paints) for their color fan deck and then compare it with your paint.
Tip: paint the entire wall at once. Due to different orientations and variations in lighting, any difference compared to the rest of the house won’t be noticeable.

Phew... I had somewhat suspected this, but didn’t think it was possible. I thought mixing paint according to a color sample had become standard practice, and not something that had fallen out of use again.
So, it looks like a trip to the paint supplier will be necessary in the next few days after all...
Painting the entire wall is not an issue. For now, it’s just about one section – some new plaster was applied there, and two doors were replaced. Since the exposed timber beams start at the first floor, this area to be painted is quite clearly defined. The entire facade on this side is very large *laughs*

Fummelbrett!10 Nov 2019 19:56Well, I would like to have a color code for this shade so that the façades on the other sides can be painted gradually later on... And a master painter on site would probably want to do the painting themselves while they are there, right?
