Sonnengarten8 Apr 2018 12:24Hello everyone,
We are currently installing parquet flooring, which consists of 1500x120x15mm (59x4.7x0.6 inches) oak planks that are directly glued onto the screed. At the edges and expansion joints, such as along the walls, we have always left at least 10-12mm (0.4-0.5 inches) of space. However, we are not entirely sure how to measure the expansion joint at the doorway between two rooms. Here, parquet meets parquet, and there needs to be an expansion gap in between.
Is it sufficient to leave a 10-12mm (0.4-0.5 inches) gap here as well, or should this be doubled to a total of 20-24mm (0.8-1 inch)? We plan to fill the expansion joints at the doorways with cork strips.
Thank you in advance for your feedback!
