ᐅ Common Issue: Kallax Doors No Longer Fit After Moving – What Can Be Done?

Hello everyone,
I am currently facing the following issue: I took my Kallax shelves complete with the doors with me during a move and reassembled them. Unfortunately, the doors no longer fit properly after reassembly. They do not close flush and are difficult to open and close, as if the unit is slightly warped. I have compared the measurements several times – they are almost exactly the same as before at the previous location.
I am aware that Kallax shelves often have door problems if they are not aligned precisely, but in my case, this does not seem to be solely due to a misalignment. I wonder if slight warping or tension in the material could have occurred during transport or for other reasons.
Practically speaking: Has anyone experienced door issues with Kallax after a move? What solutions have worked for you? Is it usually enough to readjust the hinges, or is a complete replacement of the doors recommended?
Since I want to avoid buying a new set unnecessarily, I would greatly appreciate detailed advice, tips, and tricks.
Thanks in advance!

Is there a recommended procedure for measuring something like this?Yes, ideally like this:
1. Place the shelving unit exactly where it will stand.
2. Use a precise spirit level to check the floor and the top surface of the shelf, and shim as necessary.
3. Check all corner joints for right angles – a framing square or a simple protractor is useful for this.
4. Inspect the door hinges to ensure they are free of play and adjust them if needed.
5. Test the door opening and closing, making fine adjustments where necessary.
Each of these steps should be carried out carefully, as only optimal overall adjustment can solve issues with "doors not fitting properly" after moving.
If the carcass is distorted, the only solution is to replace or repair the damaged parts.
One tip: in some cases, it can be helpful to temporarily remove the doors until precise adjustments are complete.
I had a similar issue after moving. In my case, it was caused by the back panel, which had slightly warped due to moisture during transport, causing the shelving unit to become twisted.
I gently applied pressure to reshape the unit and temporarily removed the back panel to allow it to relax. After a few days, the doors fit better again.
I can confirm that. It’s worth being patient in such situations and not immediately opting for new doors.

Otherwise, if nothing else works, you can order replacement fittings or doors from Ikea. They always fit Kallax.
