So, I'm starting a new topic here to avoid overloading the house pictures thread.

I find the sliding doors for ovens quite interesting – but do they really offer any added value? I was also surprised to read that ovens now seem to be adopting a feature I dislike in microwaves: instead of setting temperature and possibly time, you input the "dimensions" of the food?! What is that supposed to achieve?! Personally, I think it’s terrible.

And I just said that there is no TM in our kitchen, and no one is coming into my place either. Spend as much money as you want, I do the same. The main thing is, no one is taking away my new induction cooktop. (Almost) the best purchase ever!

So. Next topic. Which (un)necessary appliances have we not yet trashed, um... discussed?

You weren’t being addressed

Pointless device…: Are you familiar with those mechanical spiral cutters that are considered state of the art for making vegetable noodles? Sure, they’re cheap. But they take up space and there’s always some leftover. I hate this thing because it’s useless, yet I can’t get rid of it since it’s used about once a year.

By the way, I also find those dedicated egg cookers really pointless. And nowadays, with non-stick pans and oven racks, toasters don’t make much sense either.

Alright, let’s get started

Apple peeler,
rice cooker,

egg boiler is quite practical – okay, now with induction it’s hardly any faster and yes, that makes it rather unnecessary

We also have this spiralizer.
Only my husband can manage it – it cost 20€.
Now I’ve bought a handheld version for 5€. It works well, without any leftovers, and I don’t really count it as a kitchen appliance since it doesn’t need to be plugged in.

It’s quite funny when people write here convinced that the TM is much too expensive for what it can do, and in the same post(!) admit to spending even more on a simple coffee maker, isn’t it?

Well, if you mean me: reading educates. I don’t care about costs when it comes to my kitchen equipment. I only said that I consider the TM unnecessary.

I understood the following in combination: that while a thermal mixer (TM) might be useless due to its limitations, a more expensive gadget, even more limited, would be perfectly fine.

What is there to evaluate? That thing replaces a pot and an immersion blender.

And about coffee: my dual-boiler can’t make drip coffee at all and cost more than the thermal blender.

But of course, I read a lot between the lines there. Sorry about that.
