tinywildlux6 Aug 2012 10:21Dear IKEA community,
I recently acquired a somewhat older but very well-maintained LAGAN kitchen within two weeks. Now I’m wondering if the Faktum fronts, especially the Abstrakt gray, which I really like, are compatible with my LAGAN carcasses and whether I could also change the fronts? Does anyone have experience with this?

I would need to measure again, but I don’t think this will work. At least, only with some of the doors. IKEA, of course, doesn’t want to lose their competitive edge here. Lagan was a complete kitchen unit for just €149 (about $160) – so it’s understandable that they didn’t want to allow the conveniences of the Faktum/Rationell series, which naturally costs more.
As far as I recall, the sink cabinet is the issue because it has different dimensions. The overall height was also different.
If you want, I can check again. The unit is still on display at our store.

it would be great if you could check whether that is possible.
Best regards,
Tiny

Elvis_12206 Aug 2012 22:23I double-checked the measurements and have to confirm again: the dimensions don’t match. The base cabinet for the sink is 90cm (35 inches), and the same applies to part of the wall cabinets. So, you would need 45cm (18 inches) doors – and those are practically not available for Faktum cabinets. Also, the lowest door of the fridge cabinet is a custom size.
You would need to invest a bit more and get Faktum cabinet frames – you could still use your appliances... But I guess that’s not an option for you, right?
