Good morning everyone,
I recently assembled several IKEA Platsa furniture units, specifically doors and drawers. Unfortunately, some of the doors or drawer fronts are damaged or missing parts, which limits their functionality. My specific question is: Does IKEA officially offer spare parts for PLATSA doors and drawers, such as individual components like handles, hinges, fronts, or drawer runners, that can be ordered separately? Or is it always necessary to replace entire modules? I would also appreciate any advice on sourcing spare parts from third-party suppliers. Thanks in advance!

My follow-up question for you: Which parts exactly are missing or damaged? This will help provide more targeted advice.Thank you for the detailed explanations.
Specifically, it concerns two doors on a tall cabinet unit where the corners are slightly worn, and a drawer where the slide is stiff and the roller mechanism sometimes creaks.
So, in particular:
- Replacement fronts or repair options for the doors, preferably individual fronts
- Replacement or repair parts for the drawer slide system
A repair using standard methods is difficult since the fronts are painted, and I want to preserve the appearance. Replacing individual hinges would also be possible, but I believe the main issue is the damage to the front panel or the surface finish.
Brief and factual:
- IKEA primarily offers replacement parts for fittings (hinges, handles, runners), which are usually available through customer service.
- Individual doors or fronts as replacement parts are generally only offered in cases of warranty claims or major complaints.
- For worn or damaged fronts, on-site repair with touch-up pens, furniture repair kits, or replacement of complete fronts in case of significant damage is recommended.
- The drawer slide system can usually be replaced entirely separately, provided you identify the exact model name.
My tip: Use the product number from the IKEA label, contact customer service with a detailed description of the issue, and inquire about availability. This is the most efficient way.

So far, I’ve had good experience with small touch-up paint pens – the damage is hardly noticeable and it’s quick to do.
Regarding the drawer slides: I once needed to replace the runners myself and was able to order them easily from IKEA. They are sold individually, aren’t very expensive, and greatly improve functionality.
Sometimes a combination of repair and replacement is the best way to enjoy your furniture for a long time.
Hello Blaklo,
Briefly and casually: replacement parts for Platsa are available, yes, but handling them isn’t always straightforward.
- Hinges and handles: definitely easy to buy as replacements.
- Front panels are tricky; often replacements are hard to get because IKEA is very selective about them.
- But hey, I’d recommend calling customer service and asking exactly what’s possible.
Sometimes experience helps a lot, and if something isn’t available, you can get creative – but that’s another story ?

I recommend that you first call IKEA directly or ask for the part number of the required replacement part in-store.Thanks for the tip, I’ll do that today.
In the meantime, I’ve learned that IKEA’s goodwill policies for replacement parts that are no longer in the standard range can vary. If there is no official replacement part available, I’m also looking for advice on how to repair fronts myself to keep effort and costs down.
I’ll keep you updated on how it goes. Hopefully, this will be helpful to others in the future as well.
