Hello everyone, I’m currently working on modifying my Pax wardrobe and was wondering if it’s possible to replace the existing sliding doors myself without fully dismantling the frame or hiring a professional.
I have already looked at some IKEA instructions, but they mostly cover the initial assembly. My sliding doors still work well technically, but the design no longer matches my interior.
My specific question is: Is it possible, and to what extent, to replace the sliding doors of a Pax wardrobe on your own? What tools are required, and are there any particular points to watch out for in order to avoid damaging the frame or the sliding tracks?
I would really appreciate practical tips, personal experiences, and possibly advice on the different sliding door options.

I’m fairly handy, but I’m worried that the doors are so large and heavy that I might quickly reach my limits. The doors are indeed quite heavy, especially if they are made of glass or solid wood. I would recommend that if no one can assist you, at least prepare a stable surface where you can safely rest the door during installation.
With careful handling and good tools, it usually works fine to manage alone as well, if you first completely detach the tracks, allowing the doors to move freely.
Hello everyone,
here is a simple tip from my experience: You can manage on your own with basic aids when removing heavy doors by yourself. For example, I sometimes placed a piece of fabric or an old blanket under the door before taking it off the track.
This way, the door can be slid on the floor without the edges scratching or getting damaged.
Also: If possible, work slowly and carefully, as this prevents incorrect adjustments to the rollers that you would otherwise have to quickly readjust later.
