Hello, I am building a duplex with two roof terraces that naturally need to be well waterproofed and insulated because there is a heated room underneath.
I would appreciate some tips on how to approach this.

Best regards

I would ensure good insulation and careful sealing.

I want to do it myself and not have it done by others.

Then I would insulate and seal it professionally according to the specifications from the thermal insulation calculation and the current recognized technical rules of the roofing trade.

I would think there is specialized literature available, possibly materials from vocational schools or master craftsman schools. These usually include technical drawings showing how to carry out such work. However, from my own experience, I can say that it is not always very intuitive. You also need some experience to find out where to buy the materials and how to properly handle them. Once you understand the theory, you still have to put it into practice, which is often not straightforward.

As always, there is a reason why people learn this and pursue it as a profession.

Flat roofs are a tricky matter... It's better to have a professional roofer handle it.
